Helipebs was asked to design and deliver pneumatic directional control valves that would be suitable for offshore use in a marine application. The solution needed to be both cost effective and suitable for the extremes an offshore application brings.
The challenge
The client required reliable pneumatic directional control valves to use in various pneumatic systems on board ship. The valves needed to operate in extreme conditions without failure; servicing and support was required to cover approximately 50 years of life span.
The solution
Using our expertise with our standard valve range in 316 Stainless Steel we were able to design a range of directional control valves manufactured in LG4 Bronze with a variety of manual and pilot operating facilities.
With a specially designed internal seal stack we were able to produce valves which were suitable for the customer’s application and which overcame the variation in extreme working condition. More than 200 valves were required per ship and a total of 16 ships were manufactured.
