Helipebs Controls has always the need to encourage talented young people to consider an apprenticeship in the advanced engineering sector.
Geoff Davis, Managing Director, received an approach from Poppy Woodward for a period of summer holiday work experience and, after meeting with Poppy and her family, was only too happy to oblige. Geoff comments "Helipebs Controls is a major supplier of hydraulic cylinders to the subsea oil & gas, fatigue testing, pharmaceutical and tool & mould making industries, and it is vital that we encourage more you people to take up a career in engineering to assist with our future growth plans". Poppy adds: -"My name is Poppy Woodward and I am currently studying maths, physics, product design and business studies at the All Saints' Sixth Form Academy in Cheltenham. I became involved in engineering at an early age through my Dad and have always thought that I would like to take it up as a career, but wanted to make sure it was the right decision. Fortunately for me, I was offered two weeks of work experience with Helipebs Controls. I spent time in sales, finance and the engineering department with 'solids works design and modelling' which was both fun and interesting, but not the area of engineering that I am particularly interested in. I then moved to the shop floor where I loved getting my hands dirty with cylinder assembly, CNC operation & programming, inspection, welding and painting. Everyone was very friendly and supportive, just like an extended family. I really enjoyed my work experience at Helipebs Controls and can't wait to go back again next year".
