Ron Tyler our Manufacturing Director is a member of The Advanced Engineering Committee of The Gloucestershire LEP.
An LEP (local enterprise Partnership) is a voluntary partnership between local authorities and business formed in 2011 by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills to help determine local economic priorities and lead economic growth and job creation within its local area. They carry out some of the functions previously carried out by the regional development agencies which were abolished in March 2012.
Ron Tyler comments: "One of the main tasks of the committee is to assist in raising skill levels and to increase engineering awareness in schools. We are working closely with Schools, Colleges, Universities and training organisations to make sure we increase capability's and have the right courses that employers require. A lot of work is going on within Schools to increase their knowledge and understanding of Engineering and we have also assisted in making a DVD to promote Engineering as a Career choice."
